First Time Nilinis ang Kanal na Ito, Ngunit Laking Gulat Nila Nang Makita Nila Ang Bagay Na Ito!
Whenever you travel to a new place, where do you go to learn about that city's history and past? Chances are, you'd go for a museum or a local art show, right? Probably even a city library would be useful for that purpose.
But the recent clean-up of a major canal in Paris reveals that sometimes, raw and rich history exists where you least expect it to.
See, the Canal St. Martin in Paris has stood for a very long time, but it's one of those bodies of water that need periodic cleaning to preserve its pristine conditions! Recently, local authorities decided to completely clean out the canal, by draining it and scraping whatever they'd find it the bottom.
Now, they already did this in Manila Bay in the Philippines, and residents were shocked to discover 40 years worth of discarded items underneath!
Parisian residents got excited to also see what parcels of history hides underneath the huge canal. As the water started to subside, the bigger stuff started to show up! Surprisingly, the canal seem to have become a dump for forgotten vehicles!
There were numerous bicycles, motorcycles, and even a car. The bizarre thing is-- some of these things look like they have just been dumped in that canal recently!
Nobody ever sees anybody throwing huge junk into this canal, but somehow those things are all there underneath. However, the things that got most attention were the items that date way back World War I!
There were old boom boxes, and even older cameras. Those are pretty normal stuff. But there were also coins, and ammunition sitting underneath the canal after all this time!
Even city birds can't help but come nearer to inspect their new discovery! The fish, though, are not as excited about the clean up.
Oh of course, volunteers just couldn't let their fish friends dry out and die as they cleaned the canal! As a matter of fact, no less than 40 tons of fish were rescued and transported to a cleaner body of water. How cool is that?
