MUST WATCH: Man drops 30 lbs of Dry Ice in an Infinity Pool, gets unexpected results!
As kids, we often chance upon seeing different scientific experiments involving dry ice. Usually, adults take little cubes of dry ice and put them in a small beaker to show the process of sublimation -- or turning solid materials into gas.
Have you ever wondered how this would look in a larger scale? Well, worry no more!
In an attempt to unravel the mysteries of dry ice, a Youtuber did an experiment involving dry ice and his beautiful infinity pool.
Yes, you heard it right! Youtuber CrazyRussianHacker bought around 30 lbs of dry ice from the grocery store, broke it down inside a cooler and casually threw the whole lot into his infinity pool!
The result? His infinity pool turned into a something like a steaming tub! It's as marvelous as you would have imagined!
If you're wondering how this happened, we must first discuss how dry ice is formed.
Dry ice is made out of carbon dioxide and is frozen by subjecting the carbon dioxide molecules to extremely low temperature. The only way to freeze carbon dioxide is to subject it to a temperature way below the freezing point.
Then, sublimation occurred because the carbon dioxide molecules were suddenly placed in water, an object with a higher temperature. Water enabled the carbon dioxide molecules to break free.
It may look cool but fair warning. If you are to ever attempt this experiment, do not handle dry ice with your bare hands! Dry ice is below the freezing point and can hurt your hands if you touch them carelessly. Also, it is inadvisable to plunge into the pool after attempting this experiment because of the amount of carbon dioxide present near the pool's surface.
