Daughter who Wrote Tearjerker Poem for OFW Mother Gets Incredible Birthday Surprise!

If you've been hanging out around social media recently, you've sure encountered this beautiful poem written by a young student for her mother, who is working as a domestic helper in Hong Kong.

She performed the poem in front of her whole class, and there wasn't a dry eye in the room -- not even her own! In the poem, Iva narrated how her mother had to leave when she was just 3 years old.

She says-- a couple of questions bogged her for years while growing up without a mother by her side.

"Kung hindi ako natulog, tutuloy ka ba? Kung nakita mo ang mga mata kong dilat at lumuluha, makakaalis ka ba?"

Her spoken word described everything painful about being left behind when a mother leaves to earn better for the whole family.

Some children couldn't take it well. You know of many children with OFW parents who simply rebelled their years away. However, Iva and her three other siblings have a better sense of responsibility and compassion. They knew their mother's sacrifice is even harsher than what they had to experience!

After all these years, they simply held on to one simple but meaningful promise from their mother: "Pangako, babalik ako."

In her poem, Iva also said that her mother's situation meant she wasn't there for many of her milestones, like the first time she ever got a medal, or the time she graduated from grade school.

However, Iva made her mom a little promise of her own. She says that after six years, she will replace her mother's passport with a college diploma, and that they'd never have to be apart again. It was such a beautiful promise that was honored by GMA.

Little did Iva know, a surprise was waiting for her in a school event.

She had been asked to perform her poem in front of the whole school. When she was done performing it, the most amazing thing happened.
