We all love processed foods. Hamburgers, hotdogs, tocino, longganisa... you name it! They're yummy. They're cheap... and kids love them!

But too much of anything is pretty dangerous. And these bad boys, are no exception.



Based on recent studies, they found out tbhat eating these yummy delights is dangerous and could ultimately lead to the Big C. However, these studies prove to be futile for the health advocates because sales of processed foods are still off the charts!

For the last 2 decades, hotdogs along with baconm, ham, and luncheon meat, are under controversy because of the addition of preservatives called Sodum nitrite. These are found during cutting and processing of these so-called "food".

What's more is that an ordinary hotdog sandwich complete with mustard and ketchup has about 290 calories and 910 mg of sodium! That's way too much sodium.



Based on the New York Times, Sodium nitrite mixed with amines produce a carcinogen called Nitrosamines. It is the most potent carcinogen that may lead to the production of malignant mass in the body. That's according to Dr. William Ljinsky, former director of the Chemical Carcinogenesis Program at a Development Center in Maryland.



It's also the cause of greater incidence of leukemia among 232 children in Los Angeles, according to the researchers from the University of Southern California School of Medicine.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ljinsky noted that people must reduce consumption of such processed foods as much as they can. He further asserts that:

"I would not expose my children to it. It’s like secondhand smoking. It adds to other risk factors we are already exposed to.”
