How often do you see children walking around the metro, selling sampaguita and other cheap flowers? If you live or work near Makati, Pasay, Ortigas, or Quezon City, it's likely that you never get through one day without encountering just one young vendor like this boy.

Usually, you'd think, why are they out selling flowers on the streets when they are in the right age to go to school? Such musings usually lead to us handing them spare change, and sometimes even food.

But what do you do when you have enough money to spare but you're not really interested in buying flowers? Well, let me tell you what this foreigner did when he encountered the exact situation we were just describing.

First, he noticed that the boy had no shoes. He probably thought this was no good, given how hot the pavements in the Philippines get in the day, and how cold they get at night!

A young boy like this one could also catch all sorts of diseases if he continues to walk around barefoot. The foreigner, who really isn't into buying any of the kid's goods to help him out, thought of another way to extend the kindness of his heart.

He brought the kid to a Nike store, where he asked the boy to pick out a pair of shoes. Yes, he really did pay for a pair of durable, quality, and long-lasting shoes for the boy! Imagine how much it would help the boy who earns his living by walking and offering flowers to strangers, day and night.

Most netizens can't help but get emotional upon learning what the tourist did. Most of them commented that sometimes, foreigners are even more compassionate in sharing their blessings to our fellow countrymen.
