Supposedly, policemen are trained to serve the country for various reason.s They must ensure the safety of the civilians, make sure that there is peace in the land, execute the rule of law, and even in some cases, protect the sovereignty of the Filipino people.

But recently, the force has been part of the controversies involving politics, especially President Duterte's fight against drug use and misuse. During those times, the Filipnio people often wonder who do they really serve.

The good thing is, not all policemen are bad, just like not all of them are good. There are good stories about policemen, too. We recently heard the story of the police officer who got drenched in taho by a Chinese national by trying to enforce the ban against liquids in the MRT. Now here's another good news for our police officers.



Meet PO 1 Edward Hina.

He's just your normal policeman from Ilocos Sur but he is now making rounds on social media after a netizen heard his conversation with a patient in the hospital.

Anna Lodevico posted the conversation she heard on Facebook between Edward and the patient. According to Anna, Edward volunteered to pay for the remaining balance of the patient who was pleading to the medical staff to only pay 500 pesos from the 880 pesos that he owed.

Edward, upon seeing the conversation unfold, volunteered to pay for the remaining expenses of the poor grandfather. It was only 330 pesos but it meant a lot for the old man! The old man even volunteered to work for Edward for the next week just to pay off his debt, but Edward politely declined.

That's the kind of policemen we need in the country! Respectful, polite, and would go through any means to help his/her fellow kababayans who may need assistance!
