Totoo kaya ang punong ito sa Thailand na namumunga raw ng prutas na korteng babae?
Some people in Thailand claim that the Nariphon has started growing again. What's that, you ask?
Well, according to Thai folklore, a god named Indra used to plant Nariphon trees for a multitude of reasons. But first, here's something interesting and unique about this mythical plant: according to stories, Nariphons bear fruits in the form of a young girl.
No, Nariphons do not bear fruits that are just shaped like the female human body. Its fruits actually look like miniature women, from head to toe! Looking at these photos, don't you think it's difficult to believe that such a thing could exist?
Well, we might never know for sure, but here's what we know about these trees from mythology.
In a forest named Himaphan, Indra is thought to have planted a total of 12 Nariphon trees. He apparently did this to protect his wife, Vessantra, and their kids from predatory male creatures.
The lores say that the fruits were actually born in the image and likeness of Vessantra herself! Because of its beautiful appearance, these fruits would serve as a distraction to men while the god Indra scours the forest for food.
Apparently, male creatures would take Nariphon fruits to their homes to make love to. This allegedly caused the men to fall into a deep sleep lasting a couple of months, after which they lose their powers upon waking up!
Rumor has it, there are still some Nariphon pods stored in Bangkok! But as a tourist, be guided to take care against hoaxes and misleading offerings that could only cost you your hard-earned money.
Believers try to explain the resurgence of the sacred and mythical Nariphon trees, but really, it's up to you to decide whether you believe all this or not!
