Napakalayo ng bini-biyahe ng penguin na ito taun-taon upang makapiling ang lalaking sumagip sa buhay niya!
Need to restore a little faith in humanity and the living kind in general? Well, trust us when we say you just need to hear about the relationship of this man and this penguin to restore belief that there's still kind hearts left in the world!
In 2011, this South American Magellanic penguin almost lost his life, after he got trapped between some rocks in a beach.
Luckily, 71-year-old fisherman Joao Pereira de Souza lives near that beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He cleaned the little penguin off the oil that he was covered with, and made sure the penguin could recover by feeding him a daily diet of fish!
He even gave him a name-- Dindim!
After a week when Dindim was obviously stronger, de Souza tried to let him loose on the sea. Still, the penguin would not leave. De Souza says the bird stayed with him for almost a year before disappearing-- just right after he grew some new feathers!
The fisherman thought that that was the last he's seen of the cute little penguin, but he was wrong. Just after a few months, his dear friend Dindim was back!
And every year since then, Dindim would spend 8 months with the man who saved his life, while spending the rest of the year off the coast of Argentina and Chile!
That means that this creature actually travels 5,000 miles every year just to be reunited with his human! The fisherman says the penguin is like a child to him, and luckily it treats him like a father, too!
Other people Dindim would peck, but he would always lay on Joao's lap and would let him bathe him and feed him sardines.
Dindim is said to arrive every June and would leave every February!
Whenever he spots the old man who saved his life, he would wag his tail and honk with delight, just like a dog! Isn't that the cutest, most heartwarming thing you've ever heard of?
Experts say they've never seen anything like this and says that the penguin probably thinks of the fisherman as part of his family! Awww!
